The Fourth Kind - Is Dr. Abigail Tyler Real?

the-fourth-kind
I recently (and finally) got around to watching the movie "The Fourth Kind". You know, the one that's based on a true story about the hypnotist in Nome, Alaska who was investigating the mysterious events plaguing the city (likely alien abductions)? Okay well if you didn't know what it was, there's some background. It was in theaters a few years ago and I really wanted to see it, but never managed.

The movie opens up with a narrator coming on screen, notifying you that this entire movie is based on true events, and it uses real archived footage of the hypnotist sessions conducted by Dr. Abigail Tyler, in conjunction with the actors and actresses playing the roles of Dr. Abigail Tyler and her patients. Some names may have been changed to respect the privacy of individuals.

For an extra air of authenticity the movie has scenes of the real Abigail Tyler being interviewed on camera with the Chapman University logo hovering across the screen.

"Real" Dr. Abigail Tyler on the left and actress on the right. The movie often plays
two clips side by side contrasting with the real and fake.
During the hypnotic regression sessions Dr. Abigail Tyler performs on her patients, they are all in an extremely terrified state, in one of the cases a patient even starts levitating (the camera goes wonky in the "actual footage" of this portion). They all report seeing some kind of white owl which they don't believe to be an actual owl. These cases strongly play on themes of insanity and terror. And although the trailer and concept suggests this is all a result of alien abduction, many viewers speculate the symptoms are more along the lines of demonic possession.

Overall, if the archived footage truly is real, then this is likely the most horrific movie ever.

Unfortunately, it's not.

Wait... what?

Director and actor Olatunde Osunsanmi.
The Fourth Kind's director, Olatunde Osunsanmi who also plays the role of the man interviewing Dr. Abigail Tyler basically used the "real archived footage" line to enhance the authenticity and scare value of his film. Evidently it was a success. The film which was shot on a $10 million dollar budget raked in over $47 million dollars worldwide.

As for Dr. Abigail Tyler; both versions of her are actresses. The "fake" one is played by Milla Jovovich. The "real" one is played by Charlotte Milchard. As for the use of the Chapman University logo? You can read more about how it got its own cameo appearance.

Well then, sadly this would make for some of the greatest Paranormal evidence IF it were real, but unfortunately it's not. The movie does state however, that this is based on real events. So there has to be some aspect of truth behind it, right? Hypnotists do perform regressive hypnosis therapy on alien abduction victims, so in my opinion it's likely that this is where the "based on real events" part does come into play.

So far the only evidence I've been able to find stating that any of this movie is real, is a blog comment on another website from 'anonymous'.

Unfortunately, a testimony by an anonymous source on a blog is far off from being substantial evidence to give this story any real weight. Having said that, it was still an enjoyable watch and put together well, even if for nothing more than the fear factor it provides. You can buy the movie on Amazon on DVD or Blu-Ray.

Slender Man - He Lives in the Woods

Who is Slender Man?

Or perhaps the better question to ask would be what is Slender Man? It's the question that the Internet has been going wild for recently. Slender Man is a Paranormal entity in the shape of a skinny man dressed in a suit, with long lanky arms, but without a face. Apparently he can also grow "tentacle-like" appendages from his body as well. He lives in the woods and prays on those who get in his way.

It's believed that the first mention of Slender Man came from the website 4Chan, but his popularity grew from a contest launched off of the Something Awful forums, where users were told to turn regular looking photos into creepy looking ones, put them on Paranormal websites and see if they could pass them off as being legit. The following two were uploaded by user "Victor Surge" and it was said that Slender Man prayed on children.

While it's unknown if Slender Man originated as the result of someone's imagination or if there is any truth behind the Slender Man phenomena, it is for certain that people believe in him and will tell you their stories of their encounters with him if you are looking in the right places. In fact, just do a search in Reddit's NoSleep forum and see a plethora of Slender Man stories. Or even better, just head right into the thick of things on the Slender Man Subreddit.

Don't let Slender Man find you.
Slender Man's popularity really took off recently with the launch of the Slender Game. A game with a very simple theme, go collect all 8 pages before Slender Man gets you. Completely free to play and it plays on basic fears to become an incredibly scary experience. Go check it out.

With all of that being said, I think I know what my Halloween costume is going to be this year. Probably along with thousands of others... MWA HA HA - a fluffy bunny rabbit of course!

Seriously, Slender Man is really creepy and not-so-oddly fascinating at the same time. Here are some other photos of him. Sadly, I doubt any are real but they're cool all the same (thank you Google Image Search!). If you think you've got a real one then well, you probably bigger concerns than uploading it to the Internet, but if you do get around to it then post it in the comments.

Paranormal Comic: The Black Room

I thought I would try my hand at making another Paranormal Comic seeing how popular the first one was. To limit Internet controversy as much as possible, I'm just calling this one a Paranormal Comic instead of a Paranormal Meme. This is based off of the story The Black Room from Reddit's /r/NoSleep subreddit. This is not my story, however I did create the image. Enjoy.

UFO's & Aliens - Benevolent or Hostile?

UFO's & Aliens - Benevolent or Hostile?
Among the UFO and Paranormal community the questions of "are aliens real?" and "are we being visited?" are null and void.  The reasons being that we've for the most part, anyone with an interest in the subject has done enough digging to realize that the very realistic onslaught of evidence in terms of UFO sightings, abduction reports, biblical references, close encounters, government files from those countries that have released information (eg. Brazil), and weak-cover ups (eg. United States) amount to far too much evidence to even consider thinking anything else.

Oh, and that's not counting the people that have had alien & UFO encounters themselves.

So we typically turn to more relevant questions such as:

  • Are aliens benevolent or hostile?
  • What will the state of the Earth be once disclosure happens? (check out After Disclosure for some great ideas on this)
  • Why isn't the alien presence common knowledge to the general public?
It's the first question I'm going to concentrate on. For this, there are basically two schools of thought.
  1. Aliens are completely benevolent and want to help us evolve and guide us spiritually (New-Age thinkers such as Steven Greer).
  2. Aliens have a more sinister agenda and do not have our best interests in mind (Others such as David Jacobs).
At this point I would like to openly state that only one of these two options is correct. This is not a debatable subject as all evidence only points to one option. #2 - Aliens do not come in peace. This is the stance that Paranormal Stuff Toronto takes, and here is the major reason why.

Highly popularized by Hollywood,
they still don't look that friendly to me.
Most new age thinkers completely disregard the evidence of alien abductions. Those who have been abduction victims and give their recounts of the scenarios through hypnosis, never speak of their happy adventures with the grey's. They are terror driven memories often filled with being paralyzed against their will and forcefully taken from their rooms (or witnessing this happening to spouses and/or children), experimented on in excruciatingly painful ways, and subjected to trials and humiliating feats.

When asking their captors why they are doing this to them, they are given a pointless and unexplained response such as "it is necessary".

And ask yourself this, what creatures that have to operate from behind the shadows in such a manner and truly would have our best intentions at heart? This is not the only reason Paranormal Stuff Toronto takes this stance, but it is a big one. I strongly encourage you to take this stance as well. An advanced alien civilization does not have to rely on primitive invasion methods shown by Hollywood in movies such as Independence Day and Battle L.A. They are capable of infiltrating from within and making us see them as our "saviors". Letting them indoctrinate us as such and deeming them as "saviors" is nothing short of being irresponsible.

I'm not saying that there aren't friendly advanced alien civilizations too. In fact, I really hope that there are. But the ones that are doing the abducting and the experimenting - simply aren't the good guys. That includes Grey's, Reptilians, and Insectoids (as they have been dubbed by humans).

Please watch the following series of YouTube videos for a much fuller and detailed explanation than what I can provide here.

You may also want to check out The Threat - Revealing The Secret Alien Agenda by David M. Jacobs who I mentioned earlier. This is a book where Jacobs explains the hidden alien agenda of creating an alien-human hybrid race. He goes on to explain how their intent is to only save a handful of humans for the continuation of the human race - although there may be even something more sinister in store for them. I have read this book and can give my personal recommendation and assurance that it is extremely well documented.

The Complete and Undeniable Truth - Larken Rose

In terms of conspiracy videos, this is truly one that helps you see things in a different way. Some of the messages it conveys:

  • Politicians, senators and congressmen aren't the "good guys" we've been led to believe. They're worse than thieves and criminals.
  • Even churches are traitors to their own religion, blindly following authority - encouraging people to follow their governments no matter what.
  • We are bred to repeat words and phrases blindly and mindlessly without actually thinking about them.
  • We have a moral obligation to do what we deem is right - not what we've been guided to believe by law or otherwise.
  • "Crime" used to mean doing something wrong. Now it just means "disobedience".
  • We have been led to do things one way only and follow it mindlessly. We teach our children to continue following the same mindless path. We are sheep following the butcher.
It's a powerful message that is difficult to stop listening to once you hit 'play' on the video. The ideas put forward have a mysterious notion of common sense around them that you simply need to hear in order to see. The video is an excerpt of the novel 'The Iron Web' by Larken Rose. You can purchase the book here.

Do you believe that you are a sheep?

Haunted Toronto: Hsin Kuang Centre

The Hsin Kuang Centre, not overall
terrifying looking from the outside.
It's time to take a look into another haunted location within our fair city of Toronto. On the menu this time we have the Hsin Kuang Centre - formally the Hsin Kuang Restaurant. Located at 346 Spadina Avenue this place was said to have been built on what was originally a Chinese funeral parlour and morgue. Not exactly a good luck omen according to many Chinese people - no surprises there. The restaurant was originally opened in the 1970's to cater to Chinese Torontonians in and around the area.

The nature of the haunting according to residents? There is supposed to be a ghost that haunts the woman's washroom which makes an occasional appearance. There does not seem to be any recounts of the spirit being violent, but unsettling nevertheless.

The really bizarre thing about this case was how the Chinese owners said the spirits were able to enter into the restaurant. If you look across the street, onto the roof of the opposing building there are a couple of billboards that form an "arrow" shape pointing towards the Hsin Kuang Centre. The shape was said to act as a conduit allowing spirits to enter into the restaurant.

These billboards acted as the gateway to the restaurant for spirits.
Why couldn't they take the front door like everybody else?
This problem was identified by a Chinese exorcist. Although the owners requested for the billboards to be removed, the company that owned them would not comply. As a solution, exorcist suggested for the owners to place stone lions by the doorway to guard against the approach of evil spirits. Although they did sit in the doorway for a while, eventually the owners moved the entrance of the centre to St. Andrew's Street along with the stone lions. Doing so would protect the centre from new spirits moving in, but they would still have to cope with the ones already inside.

Creepy stone lions guard the entrance to the restaurant
which is now on St. Andrew's Street.
The location still exists today and the spirits are still supposed to be inside. If you're a woman in the area and need to use the washroom, maybe you should just look for a Tim Horton's instead...
